Dropped out – Peoria Notre Dame (10), Marengo (23), Geneseo (25)

Notes – The door might have been opened a little bit for the rest of 2A. #1 Yorkville was the top 2A school to finish at the Wheaton North Falcon Classic. Skyler Bollinger ran a great race in the championship flight finishing second. The Lady Foxes had their first four runners finish in the top 10 in each of their flights with Kelsey Leedy, Maddie Dearborn, and Erin Reynolds. With the loss of Summer Peirson for the season, Yorkville has time to get healthy and ready for the state series. #4 Crystal Lake Central finished fourteenth in the meet without former state champion Sami Staples in the lineup. The emergence of freshmen Janine Orvis and Kelly Doerr in their top 5 will still make this team a threat for a trophy.

#3 Glenbard South dropped down one spot. I would keep an eye on them. Diane Lipa, their normal #1 runner, has been sick the last couple of weeks. She was pulled out of the Wheaton North Falcon Classic because she was not 100%. The Lady Raiders will be a tough team once Lipa is back in the lineup.

#6 Woodstock finished second behind a surprising Loyola Academy team in the Pat Savage Invitational at Niles West. Maura Beattie ran great in running 17:18 on the fast Niles West course for the 30 second win over Loyola’s Kathryn House. Their split on five with Beattie is 80 seconds. The split from 2-5 was only 48 seconds. #5 Montini finished fifth behind Woodstock in this meet with the 3-4 finish by Brittany Fisher and Maggie Hallerud. They were also missing a couple of their top five runners in this meet.

#9 Chatham-Glenwood finished second in the Jacksonville Flighted Invitational behind 1A #3 Rochester. The Titans had two flight winners in the meet with Erica Rideout (6th) and Allie Smith (7th). #14 Kaneland was in action at Freeport where they won the Pretzel Invitational with 50 points.

The meet that had the most 2A teams was at the Peoria Invitational. #11 Vernon Hills had the top finish for 2A schools finishing eighth in the meet led by the 11th place finish of Vivian Overbeck. #9 Springfield finished 100 points behind Vernon Hills in 12th place, but were missing lead runner Natalie Motor who was not in their lineup for the second week in a row. #15 Metamora jumped up nine spots after placing behind Springfield in thirteenth with a 47 second 1-5 split.

Two teams from the Peoria meet jumped into the top 25. #22 Normal West finished 20th in the meet behind an 89 second 1-5 split and a 53rd place finish by Andrea Gordon. #23 Rock Island Alleman finished right behind Normal in 21st place behind a 40th place finish by Kaytlyn Golding.

The other school to make the top 25 is #24 Grayslake Central. The Rams finished second at the Pat Harland Invitational ahead of #25 Lakes.

Other teams that are close include Morton, Peoria Notre Dame, Riverside-Brookfield, Breese Mater Dei, Marengo, and Geneseo.

RiversideBrookfield with their dynamite #1and above average #2 with a decent supporting staff and Nazareth's tight pack as seen at Lisle's mane event deserve a look for top 25.
