IAAF World Indoor Tour Scoring Disciplines Announced

By Adam Kopet

The IAAF announced Thursday the scoring disciplines for the IAAF World Indoor Tour.

The World Indoor Tour is a series of six indoor track and field meets in Europe and the United States. Athletes score points for top-four finishes in specific disciplines. The top point scorers in each discipline at the end of the World Indoor Tour automatically qualify for the 2018 IAAF World Indoor Championships and earn $20,000 prize money.

The men's events in this year's tour include 60 meters, 800 meters, 3,000/5,000 meters, shot put, pole vault and triple jump. The women's events include 400 meters, 1,500 meters, 60-meter hurdles, high jump and long jump.

The New Balance Indoor Grand Prix in Boston is the fourth stop on this year's IAAF World Indoor Tour. The tour events to be held in Boston include the men's 60 meters, 800 meters, 3,000/5,000 meters, triple jump and shot put and the women's 400 meters, 1,500 meters, 60-meter hurdles and high jump.

Additional events will take place in Boston, but those events will not count toward IAAF World Indoor Tour points.

The IAAF has a complete list of IAAF World Indoor Tour events, including meeting dates.
