Dylan Jacobs, a graduate student-athlete at Tennessee, won the men's 5,000-meter title in a meet-record 13:36.93 at the Southeastern Conference Championships at LSU's Bernie Moore Track and Field Stadium in Baton Rouge. Jacobs, who won the Volunteers' first 5,000 crown since 1981, eclipsed the championship record of 13:41.04 achieved in 2003 by Arkansas standout Alistair Cragg.
